Dozens of dachshunds descended on Coldharbour Field Kitchen near Ottery St Mary in a special event for dogs and owners alike.

The 'Sausage Sunday’ on August 4 was a fundraiser for DMT Dachshund Rescue, a UK-based charity that rescues the dogs from kill shelters and the meat trade in Asia. Dachshunds are also known as sausage dogs because of their long bodies.

The day proved popular, with owners bringing their dachshunds and other dogs from Honiton, Exeter,  Exmouth, Tiverton, Taunton, Plymouth, Torquay and Yeovil. It raised £160.

Sausage dog owner and co-owner of the Field Kitchen, Beth Ashfield, said: “We were bowled over by the interest! Thank you to everyone who came along, we hope the pups enjoyed their photo opportunities and treats - puppuccinos and our yummy Coldharbour sausages.

“We’ve already received many requests to repeat the event from those who came and others who weren’t able to – so we hope to do another Sausage gathering in September!”
