Keen local gardeners can get some expert tips and advice when BBC Gardener’s World presenter Adam Frost visits Otter Garden Centres in Ottery St Mary on Saturday, September 21.

Two separate ticketed events are taking place. In the morning Adam will be hosting a two-hour Q&A session where people can get information and inspiration on managing and improving their gardens. Attendees can submit their questions in advance – with photos if necessary.

In the afternoon Adam will demonstrate planting the perfect container, with tips on selecting the right container, designing the container garden and looking after it.

Otter Garden Centres’ marketing manager Chris Amphlett said: “We’re thrilled to have Adam coming to meet our customers in Ottery. It’s a great chance to learn from his expertise, join in discussions and share experiences with fellow gardening enthusiasts.”

The ticket price for each event is £30, which includes a drink and cake on arrival, a goody bag and a copy of Adam’s book The Creative Gardener (RRP £20). Tickets can be bought via the Otter Garden Centres website.

Adam began his professional career in the mid-1980s with an apprenticeship at the North Devon Parks Department. A move to Rutland found him working with Geoff Hamilton at Barnsdale Gardens, helping to design and create many of the 38 small gardens which are still on show to the public today.

As well as Gardener’s World, Adam is a regular presenter of the BBC’s coverage of RHS Flower Shows and has featured on The One Show, DIY SOS and The Alan Titchmarsh Show. His first book, Real Gardens, was published in 2015, followed three years later by How to Create Your Garden. In March 2022 he published The Creative Gardener, a very personal book of the garden projects he created during lockdown.
