Enthusiastic crowds gathered in Market Square on Thursday 1st August 2024 to enjoy performances from Great Western Morris, Sidmouth Steppers and Sidmouth Traditional Mummers.
The weather was excellent and the ever-popular Market Fish was offering food including fish and chips and burgers.
Alexa Baker of Sidmouth Steppers said: "This event is a fantastic way to kick off Folk Week for those who have arrived a bit earlier. We enjoyed dancing and had a lovely reception from the crowd."
John Lewis has been a member of Great Western Morris for 49 years, and said: "Celebrating the start of Folk Week is always a great experience. It's a wonderful opportunity to dance and to meet up with old friends."
Adrian Clode of Sidmouth Mummers added: "We had great fun performing tonight. The crowd was great and very receptive, really entering into the spirit of things. The children clearly loved it. It's a great family event."
