A prize draw to raise funds for the Chit Rocks Beach Ramp Project brought in more than £1,500.

The top prize was two tickets to see the headline acts at the Sidmouth Folk Festival, and was won by local resident Sandra Lang. The draw was made by Sidmouth Town Council’s chairman Chris Lockyear during a garden party on Monday (July 29) at Fourways Nursing Home.

The Chit Rocks team have thanked everyone who bought a draw ticket, and Fourways for hosting the party. The total amount raised by the draw was £1,585, of which £210 was raised at the event.

Sidmouth Co-op is now supporting the Beach Ramp Project and has launched a children’s art competition. Entrants are being asked to draw their favourite Sidmouth beach or rock pool scene and drop their work in at the Sidmouth Co-op store by Friday, August 30. The best entries will win goodie bags and be displayed in the window of the supermarket to raise awareness of the project.

The Chit Rocks team will be outside the Co-op on Thursday, August 1 and Saturday 10 between 10am and 2pm to chat to people about the beach ramp initiative. They are also holding regular Q&A sessions at the site – visit their Facebook page for full details.
