Actor James Pellow has said he is 'genuinely thrilled' to donate £1,000 to Sidmouth Hospice at Home after a sell-out performance of his one-man show.

He took to the stage at the Manor Pavilion Theatre on May 25 to perform Sylvia, the Little Peach in the White Sandals, in which he plays both characters.

He has now donated the profits from ticket sales to the 24-hour specialist hospice service for Sidmouth and the Sid Valley.

James said: “This charity is close to my heart, and I wanted to give profits from the ticket sales to Sidmouth Hospice at Home, in particular tribute to two lovely friends who benefited from their wonderful care.

"I am genuinely thrilled to be able to do this.

“I love staging my shows at The Manor Pavilion, where I've felt so much at home over the past 20 years, and where I'm always made so welcome - and doing it for charity fundraising makes it even more special.”

Sidmouth Hospice at Home's Fundraising Manager Sharon Coombes said: “We are so grateful for this generous donation. Not only has James raised valuable awareness and vital support for our charity funded service, but he has also been able to remember dear friends that we had the privilege to care for. That’s very special indeed.”

James Pellow's one-man show marked 20 years of his connection with the Manor Pavilion Theatre. Since that performance, he has been a key cast member in the production of Yes Prime Minister, part of the Sidmouth Summer Play Festival. He has often described Sidmouth as his second home - he is a resident of the Isle of Wight.
