A 10-year-old pupil from St John’s School in Sidmouth provided treats and entertainment for residents at an Exmouth care home when she visited on Saturday, July 6.
Molly had been working on a project to 'provide something beneficial for the elderly'.
She raised money herself to buy a hamper of sweets, which she gave out to the residents at Raleigh Manor Care Home, and then performed songs for them, accompanied on keyboards by her music teacher Luis Fitzhenry.
Her songs included 'Can't Help Falling in Love', 'Somewhere over the Rainbow ' and her own composition 'Glide of the Swan'. The residents joined in, clapping and dancing.
Molly's mother Charly said: "Despite being very nervous Molly sang beautifully and the residents were so kind to her. She is very keen to go back to Raleigh Manor again, she has collected a few song requests.”
Next time she will include those requests, Vera Lynn's 'White Cliffs of Dover' and 'All Things Bright and Beautiful' in her repertoire.
The care home's general manager Gill Pratt said: “Molly really lit up the home with her voice and her generosity. Such a wonderful young talent in so many ways. We can not wait for her to return.”
