The RAF cadets from the 2019 Sidmouth squadron enjoyed a weekend away at the Britannia Royal Navy college in Dartmouth, experiencing the challenges of Royal Navy Officer training. The college is responsible for the training of Royal Navy Officers, providing comprehensive training programmes, writes Poppy Chudley
The cadets went through some really difficult exercises, such as field gun manoeuvres, drill practice on the main parade ground, a low ropes exercise and a swimming test, which eight cadets passed.
The young cadets also went on a cutting-edge simulator, which replicates the bridge of a real naval ship. In addition, the cadets then went on to meet the Britannia Beagles, the college's resident beagles, and got up early Sunday morning to stand to attention while the ensign was raised.
Furthermore, the Cadets additionally met Captain Andrew Bray, possibly the youngest ever Commanding Officer of Britannia Royal Naval College, other members of staff and naval recruits, which whom they got to listen and ask questions which will be invaluable to those Cadets who wish to join the military in the future.
