Residents at Tipton St John's Sundial Care Home recently enjoyed an international food-tasting day.
The afternoon event was designed to foster community spirit while introducing the family members, as residents are often referred to, to a variety of delicious dishes from around the world.
Staff members prepared a diverse range of meals to share, featuring Filipino pork adobo, chicken kaldareta, chicken noodles with veg, egg fried rice, Portuguese mixed seafood dishes, Greek baklava sweets and traditional English scones with cream and jam.
Liz Hunt, a valued team member, prepared the main course featuring Filipino delicacies.
The event was not only for the home's residents; relatives and visitors were also welcome.
The response to the event was overwhelmingly positive, with staff members coming in on their days off to participate.
The atmosphere was filled with laughter and togetherness as everyone sampled different flavours and shared their love for good food.
The successful event has already sparked discussions for planning next year's international food tasting, which, if possible, will be held in the outdoor garden.
Showing appreciation for the event, one relative sent a thank you card and donuts to the home with the message, "To Liz and all the lovely staff, thank you for inviting us to your lunch, the food was lovely and was very tasty!
"We enjoyed it."
The team at Sundial Care Home, near Sidmouth, worked diligently to ensure the international food tasting afternoon was a success.
Together, they managed to create an exciting and interactive dining experience that fostered a strong sense of community.
