A Summer Fun Day held by Sidmouth Primary School last Saturday (July 6) has raised £5000 for the school.
The money will go towards a new outdoor learning zone and pond area for the pupils.
The Sidmouth Primary School PTFA said they had worked hard to make the event a success, but could not have done it without the help of parents and the local community, including a large number of businesses.
PTFA secretary Emma Gingell said: “We would like to thank our sponsors for the event Buchanans Solicitors for the financial contribution, gifts for the tombola, prizes for the games and for all the volunteers’ T-shirts!
“Huge thanks also go to all the businesses that supported us with food and drink; Co-op Sidmouth, Waitrose Sidmouth, Tesco Seaton, Spar Sidford, Aldi Seaton, Dukes, and Taste. Thank you to Claire and Julia who work in the school kitchen and gave up their time to cook all the delicious food on Saturday.”
Emma Chudley, PTFA Co-Chair said, “Our ‘wine or water’ stall was a huge hit! Thank you to Tesco Seaton and Regency Wines who donated the wine. Thank you also to The Anchor Inn for all the empty bottles that we filled with water.
“Our thanks to Sidmouth Rugby Football Club for running a game and to Emily Miller Music and East Devon Dance Academy for their amazing performances. A special thank you to Derek Hall who ran our candy floss machine, and to S R Property Maintenance & Handyman Services who created the amazing toy puppy race track for one of our games.”
The PTFA also wanted to pass on their thanks to D&Ms Disco, Wedding and Party Specialists who provided and ran the bouncy castle, and to Bill Brown for donating the haybales that were used for seating on the day.
Driftwood Gift Shop Sidmouth deserve a special thanks as they donated not only a raffle prize, but lots of prizes for the tombola.
Michelle Anning, PTFA Co-Chair, added: “A huge thank you must go to all the parent volunteers, school staff and Year 6 pupils that gave up their Saturday to help run stalls, and of course all the wonderful families in Sidmouth that came along to support our Summer Fun Day. We literally could not have raised the incredible amount we did without you.”
