East Devon District Council has announced that the coast path between Sidmouth and Jacob's Ladder Beach (Millennium Walk) is now closed.

The path was closed by contractors on Wednesday (June 26) and they hope to have the walkway open again for the weekend. June 29 and 30.

Contractors will be testing and repairing the cliff to stop erosion from the cliff falling onto the path and maybe injuring someone.

Millennium Walk will remain closed during this period to keep visitors safe while the work is carried out.

Contractors will be inspecting the cliffs and carrying out the necessary repairs to the cliff, to make it stable for people to walk under without risk.

Access is still available to Jacob's Ladder Beach, but you will have to walk up Peak Hill and then down the spiral footpath from the road in order to access the beach from the town.
