Devon Air Ambulance landed in Manstone Recreation Ground in Sidmouth this morning (June 26), after a woman sustained a 'serious ankle injury.'

A ambulance crew and the helicopter were deployed around around 8am on June 26. A resident of the town told the Herald that the air ambulance was there for around 40 minutes, as land ambulance and air ambulance dealt with the casualty.

The woman was sent to hospital via land ambulance and the air ambulance returned to their base in Exeter shortly afterwards.

A spokesman for Devon Air Ambulance Trust said: "Our Exeter helicopter was tasked to attend an incident in Sidmouth at 7:58 this morning following a request from a land ambulance crew already on scene.

"The patient, an elderly lady had suffered a severe ankle injury. Our crew treated the lady at the scene and she was later transferred to hospital by the land ambulance crew for further treatment."
