A defibrillator for public use has been installed outside Fourways Community Cares office in Glen Road, Sidmouth.
It follows a fundraising campaign launched in October last year by Fourways Residential Home and Community Care, with a crowdfunding page and donation boxes at the care home and office. The company said there was no defibrillator in the Bickwell Valley area of Sidmouth and it would benefit the whole local community to have one.
The potentially life-saving equipment has now been put in place by Fords Southwest and is ready to be used.
An open training session will be held on Friday, July 5 for anyone who would like to know how to use a defibrillator in a medical emergency. It will be run by the Community Heartbeat Trust, from 3pm until 5pm at All Saints' Church Hall.
Fourways Residential Home and Community Care said they would like to say a 'huge thank you' to the staff and local community members who contributed to the fundraising appeal.
