Climate Awareness Partnership Sidmouth (CAPS) will host a talk with farmers and landowners this summer.
The event, named Farming the Land in Devon: Looking to the Future, will be held on June 6 at 3pm in the Cellar Bar of Kennaway House.
Katherine Gray from Sid Valley, Henry Gent from outside Exeter and Haydn Dawkins from North Devon will form the panel, providing their personal experiences on farming in Devon and the challenges they face within a shifting climate.
CAPS is a local collaborative effort assisting Sid Valley residents in understanding their carbon footprint, facilitating informed decisions in efforts to lower it.
The group has proven popular amongst locals keen to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The talk comes after the CAPS-hosted event A Plant-Based Future: How and Why? at the end of February, which was a well-attended lecture on the impact of food consumption on climate change.
Attendees reported positively, aligning their dietary changes with a growing trend in reduced meat intake.
Global realisation of the necessity to reform food systems in alignment with greenhouse gas reduction commitments and enhancing biodiversity places particular relevance on the topics of diet and land use.
With the aim to reach net zero emissions by 2050, farmers and landowners play a vital role.
Therefore, Ms Gray, Mr Gent and Mr Dawkins will discuss their adaptations and future possibilities within the industry, followed by a Q&A session.
Entry is priced at £2.50 which includes a drink and biscuit and is open to all.
