The Sid Valley Food Bank has seen an increase in demand since the pandemic, and now need more volunteers to help them.
They need help with administrative tasks and more trustees, shoppers, packers, donation point collectors or delivery drivers. There is also scope for people to join our major projects teams, including Christmas hampers.
The Food Bank is manned entirely by volunteers and since the pandemic and the cost of living demand has doubled. In March 2021 the number of food parcels per month was 82 and the number of households supported was 22 but in 2024 the numbers had increased to 194 and 43. There is no sign of the numbers decreasing.
Whilst the Food Bank is in a healthy position for the year ending 31st March 2024 it ran at a deficit due to the increased numbers and the increase in the cost of food.
