Sidmouth Probus Ladies' Club has celebrated its 40th anniversary.
On Thursday, April 4, 32 members attended a special lunch at the Victoria Hotel where a founder member, Pam Sage, cut an anniversary cake. Each member was given a bud vase as a memento of the occasion. The lunch was followed by the club's Annual General Meeting.
The new chairman is Coral Escott and committee members are Alison Black (vice chairman & almoner), Christine Boddington (treasurer), Jane Watts (membership secretary), Geraldine Prescott (speakers’ secretary) and Susan Hyde (secretary), Gillian Crooks.
The club was set up in 1984, and its aims are 'to promote social and intellectual contacts through congenial companionship and caring support to members in times of need'. Monthly meetings are held at All Saints Church Hall on the first Thursday of the month. Coffee and cake are available on arrival and this is followed by a visiting speaker. Visitors are always welcome to attend.
The next meeting will be on Thursday, May 2 when there will be a talk on cyber security. Anyone who would like to come along is asked to email Jane Watts at janeewatty02@gmail.com
