I was lucky enough to be invited to attend a rehearsal of Sidmouth Musical Theatre’s upcoming production of Dolly Parton’s musical ‘9 to 5’ which they are performing at the Manor Pavilion Theatre in Sidmouth from 1st to 6th of April. What a treat is in store for East Devon audiences.
With a mix of humour and drama, silliness and a thought-provoking message – this is a show not to be missed! The lively and varied musical numbers are delivered with such skill and enthusiasm, all supported by a live 10-piece band. And what an amazing sound they make! There is nothing quite like live music, and as an actor myself, I am rather jealous not to be on stage, singing and dancing with these talented performers. To get to watch such vibrant, exciting musical theatre, is a pleasure indeed.
The principals and ensemble have worked really hard with the musical director, choreographer and director over the past few months, to bring us all a show of the high calibre we expect from this society. Many local faces, from Exeter and East Devon, are devoted to bring live theatre to the community – and I urge you to support them. Enjoy the show!
