Sidmouth Musical Theatre is moving into final rehearsals for its performance of 9 to 5, a comedy musical based on the 1980 film starring Dolly Parton, at the Manor Pavilion Theatre.
The musical was also written by Dolly Parton and includes several lively songs including the title track.
It tells the story of office workmates Doralee, Judy and Violet, who decide to get their revenge on their misogynist, egotistical boss.
The leading role is played by Samantha Landy, a local girl whose family have a long tradition with Sidmouth Musical Theatre. She made her mark in Carousel as an ingénue playing Louise Bigelow, and has gone on to delight audiences with her clear voice and acting skills. Her mother Lesley Morris, also well known to Sidmouth audiences, is in the chorus keeping an eye on her daughter.
The show runs from Monday, April 1 until Saturday, April 6, with a performance every evening plus a matinee on the Saturday. Tickets are available online or from the box office at the Manor Pavilion, priced at £20 or £16 for under16s.
