Tributes have poured in from all over the country after the news that legendary BBC Radio 2 presenter Steve Wright has died at the age of 69.
His family confirmed the sad news in a statement on Tuesday night, telling fans: "It is with deep sorrow and profound regret that we announce the passing of our beloved Steve Wright.
"In addition to his son, Tom, and daughter, Lucy, Steve leaves behind his brother, Laurence and his father Richard. Also, much-loved close friends and colleagues, and millions of devoted radio listeners who had the good fortune and great pleasure of allowing Steve into their daily lives as one of the UK's most enduring and popular radio personalities.
"As we all grieve, the family requests privacy at this immensely difficult time."

Among those paying tribute to Steve Wright was Heart Radio presenter Carlos who is known for hosting Heart 70s Breakfast.
He said on X, formally known as Twitter: "OMG just heard Steve Wright has died. Like so many I’m devastated. A master of his craft.
"An inspiration to so many radio people & loved by millions. I first listened to him on Radio 210 back in the mid 70s. RIP Steve you’ll be sorely missed."

BBC Radio 2 DJ Sara Cox also shared her thoughts live on air, telling listeners: "It's really hard to know what to say about the news of Steve Wright's passing except that we are all absolutely shocked and blindsided by this news."
She added: "He was a really really kind person, he was witty, he was warm and he was a huge huge part of the Radio 2 family."
