East Devon District Council was the sixth best local authority in England for recycling household waste in 2022/23.
According to data from Defra, EDDC sent 60 per cent of the 46,500 tonnes of household waste it collected for recycling, composting or reuse in the last financial year.
The best local authority for recycling household waste in 2022/23 was South Oxfordshire District Council with a recycling rate of 62 per cent.
The worst was the London borough of Tower Hamlets at just 20 per cent.
EDDC was also in the top 10 in 2021/22, ranking fifth.
EDDC is one of only six councils to have a five-year recycling rate of over 60 per cent alongside South Oxfordshire, St Albans, Vale of the White Horse, East Riding of Yorkshire and Surrey Heath.
Cllr Geoff Jung (Lib Dem, Woodbury and Lympstone) said: “Yet again I am most grateful to the Suez/ EDDC partnership for being such a great team providing such a brilliant service every week throughout the year, providing such an efficient service.
“Also not forgetting all our residents who sort out their recycling and put it out on the curb each week.”
