Ring in the spring season by visiting the new trail at The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth.
With the warmer weather on the horizon, visitors can encounter the myriad of wildlife through the Drizzle’s Green Guardians Trail.
The sanctuary is a bustling hub for thousands of insects, animals, and plants.
Much to our surprise, the native donkeys living here, like Drizzle and his friends, play a significant part to boost the biodiversity of the site.
Whether they graze the meadows or spread seeds through their coats, these donkeys help support the native wildlife that calls the sanctuary home.
The new trail provides the opportunity to decipher clues and explore the sanctuary's surroundings.
Trail sheets, available for purchase at £5, include a prize upon completion of the trail.
Committed to being family-friendly, the sanctuary offers free admission year-round and parking facilities at no extra cost.
Dogs on a tight leash are also invited.
Nestled in the core of East Devon's countryside, it boasts of extensive walkways, a natural play area, a maze, daily guided talks, enthralling exhibits, and a chance to meet the resident donkeys.
The recent addition of a Bat Beacon enables visitors to discover the importance of bats as they contribute equally to the sanctuary's ecosystem and the resident donkeys.
The sanctuary's award-winning restaurant, The Kitchen, tempts visitors with its varied menu, prepared using fresh, seasonal local produce.
To commemorate Shrove Tuesday on February 13, the menu will feature crepe-style pancakes with lemon and sugar, vegan American-style pancakes with blueberries, and American-style pancake stack with bacon.
The sanctuary's Gift Shop offers visitors a chance to take home a keepsake, with the knowledge that every purchase directly assists the workings of the charity.
Open from 9am to 5pm daily, The Donkey Sanctuary is the perfect destination to usher in the spring.
