Ottery Fire Station and Honiton Fire Station were called out last night (January 17) to a vehicle fire on Chineway Road.
At around 7pm, crews arrived a were faced with a vehicle fully involved in fire.
A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: "Due to the extent of the fire and distance to the nearest hydrant the Incident Commander sent a ‘Make Pumps 2’ assistance message which saw an appliance from Honiton Fire Station sent to assist with dealing with the incident.
"Crews used three breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, hydraulic spreaders, small tools, and a thermal imaging camera to bring the incident under control."
The car was 100 per cent destroyed by fire and smoke. Once extinguished the vehicle was recovered and scene handed over to the Highways Agency.
