A Sidmouth man whose late wife was looked after by the local Hospice at Home has raised £225 for the charity.
Alan McLaren White donated a £100 hamper which was put on display at The Little Deli in Sidmouth in the run-up to Christmas, with raffle tickets sold to customers.
The raffle draw was made last month and the money was presented to Sidmouth Hospice at Home.
Mary Ashby, Specialist Nurse Manager, said: “We absolutely cannot thank our Sidmouth community enough for supporting our specialist Sidmouth Hospice At Home services.
“Thank you Little Deli.
“Our local volunteers help us beyond words to help our patients and their loved ones and our wellbeing days at Sidford enable nurses, volunteers and our patients to enjoy our day together, full of friendship and caring.
“Our nurses are with our patients and their families night and day.
“We truly could not exist without Sidmouth’s love and support for their local Hospice.
“I am 1000 per cent proud of our hospice team and honoured to be caring for Sidmouth.”
The hamper was won by local resident Caro Brewster after the draw was made by Claudia, a customer of The Little Deli.
Caro said: “Wow – how lucky I am to win this fabulous hamper. Well done to The Little Deli and to Alan for raising much needed funds for Sidmouth Hospice at Home. I am so thrilled to win all these delicious treats at the same time as helping such a good cause.”
Alan said: “Bravo to the two proprietors of The Little Deli for their fantastic fundraising campaign, with the help of their customers, helping them to raise £225 for the Sidmouth Hospice at Home nurses, who all do a grand job giving their end-of-life care to members of our community.“
