Fire crews from Sidmouth and Ottery tackle an electricity pole which had caught fire yesterday morning (December 27).
At 10.30am, crews from Ottery were called out to reports of a fire at the top of an electrical pole in Sidbury while Sidmouth Fire Station were at another incident.
A spokesman for Sidmouth Fire Station said: "On arrival, crews confirmed there was a fire at the top of the electrical pole caused by arching. Crews liaised with National Grid to isolate the power and got to work with a hose reel jet, extended by additional hose to extinguish the fire.
"With a little help from Storm Gerrit, the fire was extinguished and duty of care was left with National Grid but not before some local residents provided the crew with hot coffee and mince pies."
