A Sidford woman has been banned from getting behind the wheel for more than two years after admitting to drink-driving.

Amy Roles, 40, of Sid Vale Close, was stopped in her Citroen C1 on Woolbrook Road on Saturday, April 1.

She was breathalysed and found to have 116 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – more than three times the legal limit of 35 micrograms.

Roles admitted the offence at Exeter Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, September 20 and was sentenced on Thursday, November 2.

She has been disqualified from driving for 26 months.

Her ban will be reduced by 26 weeks if she completes a drink-drive rehabilitation course by March 21, 2025.

Roles has also been fined £750 and told to pay a £300 victim surcharge and £135 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

She will pay off her £1,185 court bill in weekly instalments of £20.

Magistrates said her guilty plea was taken into account when she was sentenced.

In another case heard at Exeter Magistrates' Court, a driver from Sidmouth has been fined £60 and handed four penalty points after she was caught speeding on the A380 near Newton Abbot.

Rachel Letitia Bruce (aka Greenaway), of Lindemann Close, was caught exceeding the 50mph speed limit on August 9, 2022 in an Audi Q2.

Court documents do not indicate the speed the 35-year-old was driving at.

She admitted the offence on November 1 the magistrates' court, where she was fined £60.

She must also pay £85 in costs and a £24 victim surcharge.

Her guilty plea was considered when she was sentenced. She will pay her £169 court bill in two instalments.
