Tipton St John resident Jo Earlam has created a video capturing a 460-mile charity walk around Devon that she did 20 years ago.
At the time Jo was a reporter for BBC Radio Devon and her walk, in September 2003, was in aid of the radio station’s Chestnut Appeal for prostate cancer. She raised a total of £17,000.
She provided daily radio reports of her walk and made a programme about it which was broadcast later that year.
Now Jo has edited together interviews she did along the way, photos taken at the time and newer images, to make an audio-visual record.
Her walk took her through Sidmouth, where she received her largest donation to the charity. An anonymous donor handed her £2,000 in a brown envelope, and news of the astonishing gift was reported in the Herald.
Jo said she had been inspired to make the 54-minute video after listening back to the interviews she did 20 years ago. She hopes people will enjoy watching and hearing the archive reports.
