Sidmouth has given a ‘warm welcome’ to a new Peacocks shop that opened in the High Street today.
The branch in the former M&Co premises was officially opened this morning by the chair of Sidmouth Town Council Cllr Chris Lockyear.
It has employed 12 local people and will probably be looking to increase staff numbers during the busy summer season next year.
Regional manager Amanda Graff said there had been a ‘fantastic response’ to the arrival of Peacocks in Sidmouth.
She said: “Even during the setting up over the last couple of weeks we’ve had people knocking on the door and chatting to us outside. They’ve been really receptive and welcoming, and chuffed that we’re going to be part of Sidmouth.
“Peacocks is all about value fashion clothing for all the family, and this morning we’ve had lots of people buying kids’ wear, that’s probably the biggest hit so far.
“We’ve had a very warm welcome and we’re excited to see how the store does over the coming months.”
