A crowdfunder has been launched to save Ottery’s Food and Families Festival.

The festival would have been held this Saturday, September 9, but in June the organisers announced ‘with great regret’ that it had been called off because of a lack of funding.

The festival is a not-for-profit event, organised by volunteers to promote Ottery St Mary as a 'foodie' destination.

It costs around £15,000 to put on and the organisers have to fundraise to meet £5,000 of the cost. They are determined to keep the festival free to attend so that as many people as possible can come along.

This year their fundraiser had to stand down and they were unable to find a replacement or fill the financial hole in time to stage the festival.

To ensure that the 2024 festival can go ahead, the organisers are appealing for donations via the Crowdfunder site. They have until Monday, September 18 to meet their £1,000 target.

Event manager Victoria Robinson said: "The festival should have been on Saturday and although we very sad it's not going ahead we're concentrating on making the 10th anniversary in 2024 the absolute best it can be.

"We also have our AGM coming up on 12th October so if anyone would like to join the team please contact us via otteryfood.info@gmail.com"
