The grand opening of Sidmouth's new Craft Hub took place on Saturday (July 15).

Owner, Felicity Carver, was thrilled to find over 100 people waiting outside the Hub when she opened the new shop alongside Rev Sarah Mounouray MBE, curate at St Peter's Sidford and St Giles Sidbury, offered a prayer of blessing over the building, the business and all who will use it.

Professor Alan Cotton MBE then said a few words about the importance of encouraging arts and crafts at all ages before cutting the ribbon and letting everyone in. The celebration continued with glasses of fizz, soft drinks and canapes, supplied by The Little Deli.

Several craft tutors were also there to demonstrate their work and talk about the classes they will be offering in the coming months as well as the chance to sign up for the classes and look around the craft room, as well as browsing around the shop.

The date was particularly special for Felicity, as she and her husband Roger will also be celebrating their 21st wedding anniversary.

Felicity said: "Everyone was welcome to browse the beautifully decorated Craft Room and the newly-stocked shop, and both were filled to bursting. A happy atmosphere, along with the fine weather, made it a really enjoyable morning for everyone. Sidmouth Craft Hub is now open 0930-1700 Monday to Saturday.

"It is hoped that the wide range of tutored craft classes, which can be booked online at www.sidmouthcrafthub.co.uk and a shop full of haberdashery, wools, yarns, craft kits and crafting supplies will be a welcome addition to our beautiful town."

Felicity and her team look forward to welcoming everyone to the Craft Hub in the coming months. Find out more on their website www.sidmouthcrafthub.co.uk
