Sidford Tennis Club will be holding a party on Sunday, July 16 to celebrate its 75th anniversary, and is inviting local residents to come and join in.
The party coincides with the Wimbledon Men's Final and the match will be screened live at the club during the event.
Off-court, the barbecue will be ready from midday and there will be live music. On-court, a variety of different tennis and tennis related activities will be taking place from midday and throughout the afternoon. After watching Wimbledon, people will be able to take to the court for a game.
The club is very grateful to all the local businesses that have donated prizes for a raffle to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. This is in memory of past trustee and committee member Alan Legg.
To combine the ‘competitive’ and anniversary theme, there will also be a cake competition for the most appropriate Sidford birthday cake.
Tickets are £5 and the club would like to know how many people are likely to attend as soon as possible, so those who are coming along are asked to confirm with angelatorrice59@gmail.com by 2nd July.
Sidford Tennis Club celebrated its 70th anniversary year in 2018. Between 70 and 80 people of all ages attended its celebration event, enjoying a range of games and entertainment.
The club prides itself on being a community-based organisation and welcomes new members of all abilities, including those who are completely new to tennis, or rusty players. It offers plenty of activities, including:
· Regular, weekly cardio tennis open to the community and members
· Beginners, Improvers and Match Level adult coaching
· Mini, junior and teenager coaching
· Regular social sessions during the week, both in the day and evening, to suit people’s busy schedules
· Quarterly social organised events (such as doubles or triples)
· Internal club ‘triples tennis’ league
· Devon league’s Team tennis for those who enjoy the competition.
