Sidmouth resident and Sunday Times best-selling author, Jane Corry, has just launched her latest psychological thriller, Coming to Find You.
Jane is a former magazine journalist who spent three years working as a writer-in-residence at a high-security prison for men. This insightful experience helped inspire her to write her best-selling psychological thrillers. Her last seven books have been published in more than 35 countries and sold over a million copies.
Jane’s latest story has a strong link to Sidmouth which is sure to interest local readers. The book is set in Sidmouth during World War II and the present day and features two strong female characters, Elizabeth and Nancy, whose lives become intertwined in a thrilling page-turner.
The story goes back to 1942 when Elizabeth, who runs a boarding house in Sidmouth, is recruited into Churchill’s secret army to help defend her hometown in the event of an invasion by the Germans.
Fast forward 80 years and Nancy is now living in the house once owned by her grandmother’s best friend, as it’s a safe place to hide from the press who want to know her side of the story behind the murder of her mother and stepfather, which Nancy’s stepbrother is serving time for in prison. Yet, as the story unfolds, discover if Nancy knows more than she’s letting on!
Explaining what inspired her to set her latest book in Sidmouth, Jane said: “The book idea came from a chance conversation in the gym where somebody talked about locals setting fire to their weapons at the end of the war. I asked why they would do that and was told about Churchill’s secret army. I’d never heard about it before.”
Coming to Find You is expected to match the success of Jane’s other books, which have all been top ten Sunday Times bestsellers.
Despite her high achievements, Jane remains incredibly modest and works hard for various local charities, including the Sidmouth Literary Festival. Her passion for Sidmouth is clearly evident and her latest book is sure to put the historic coastal town firmly in the spotlight. Describing what she enjoys most about living in Sidmouth, she said: “I love the sea. I’m in it every day, all year around. Also, the wonderful friends I’ve made and the sense of community spirit.”
Coming To Find You is out in paperback on Thursday, June 22, and is also online. It’s published by Penguin and cost £7.99 in paperback. It’s on sale nationwide in bookshops, supermarkets and online. Winstone’s Bookshop is hosting the book’s launch on Monday, June 26 at 6.30pm, where everyone is welcome to attend.
