Children at Ottery St Mary Primary lived up to the school motto – ‘Push yourself and have a go’ – when they took part in its annual junior hill climb.
The event challenges pupils to cycle from the bottom field gate up to the Key Stage 2 playground in the shortest time they can manage.
It took place at the end of April and 37 children aged four to 11 took part, with parents joining in to give them a push or a few words of encouragement.
Five-year-old Randall set off first, finishing in 42.43 seconds, followed by Millie in 43.35 seconds. Sam set the fastest Key Stage 1 time – 23.48 seconds – closely followed by Oliver and Esmai.
River achieved the fastest time with 21.68 seconds, and Eve set the top girls’ time of 25.29 seconds.
The winning house was Salston, but all the pupils were congratulated by event organiser Dave Goldthorpe for ‘having a go’, and he thanked all the parents who came along to help out and support their children.
