This photo of a tea party celebrating the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 was sent to the Herald by a former resident of Sidmouth, Margaret Tucker.

It was taken by a photographer from a local studio that closed down many years ago.

Mrs Tucker, now in her 80s and living in Crediton, doesn’t remember where the party took place, but said it was a public hall. She thinks many of the children pictured were pupils at St Nicholas School. She was at the party with her sister Jean, who attended that school; she herself was a pupil at the private Robin School.

She was also a Girl Guide at the time, and was the proud leader of the Swallow Patrol.

Sidmouth Herald:

Mrs Tucker, nee Margaret Hellier, would love to hear from anyone who attended the party.
