A celebrity couple visited The Donkey Sanctuary this week and raved about the experience on social media.

On Monday (March 20) former Strictly Come Dancing star Flavia Cacace-Mistry and her actor husband Jimi Mistry revealed on social media that they were going for a special day out to celebrate Jimi’s 50th birthday.

It turned out to be a trip to The Donkey Sanctuary, which they said they had been meaning to visit for a long time.

Sidmouth Herald:

Posting photos and videos after the visit, they described it as ‘amazing’ and said it was ‘the perfect day out’.

They said they had ‘loved’ meeting all the donkeys, including Nelly and Gerty, and thanked the sanctuary’s visitor services assistants Dean and Donna.

Dean Hancock, Visitor Services Assistant said: "It was lovely to meet Flavia and Jimi on Monday, and we ensured they had lots of opportunities to meet our resident donkeys. Donna is a great fan of Strictly, so they seemed to have lots to talk about, no doubt she was keen to pick up some tips!

"We hope Jimi had a great birthday, and that they both enjoyed their day out at the Sidmouth sanctuary, despite the Great British Weather, and we're sure that donkeys Nelly and Gertie both scored a 10 with them!"

Sidmouth Herald:

The celebrity couple live in Devon. Flavia left the dance show in 2014, and they now run a smallholding in the South Hams.

They live in a converted barn, sell eggs from their flock of hens, keep three rare breed sheep and grow their own fruit and vegetables. They also offer rural retreats in their holiday cottages.
