Daffodil Day returns to Sidmouth on Saturday, March 11, at the usual venue of Kennaway House.
Outside in the grounds there will be stalls from a range of nurseries selling a variety of plants. There will also be stalls inside, and a fine art exhibition by local artists. Refreshments will be available in the Cellar Bar.
Daffodil Day is run by the Daffodil Society, who use the proceeds to purchase bulbs which are planted by hand by volunteers throughout the Sid Valley. So far, over the past six years, the Daffodil Society has planted more than 30,000 bulbs, adding to Sidmouth’s celebrated Million Bulbs - the dying wish of benefactor Keith Owen. The Society has funds to plant at least another 50,000 bulbs over the coming years.
Many traders in the town support Daffodil Day by decorating their shop windows with daffodils and other yellow items, and the day has come to represent the arrival of spring in Sidmouth.
Daffodil Dayruns from 10am until 3pm.
