Sidmouth residents enjoyed their carnival again on Saturday, September 24 after a two year hiatus.
The procession started at 7.30pm on Woolbrook Road before heading into town, and ended on the seafront.
The East Devon Carnival Circuit has been cancelled for the past three years because of Covid, so this was the first Sidmouth Carnival to take place since 2019.
Spectator Cal Lovell said: "I'm hugely impressed by the creativity and hard work that has gone into the floats and performances.
"I'm from New Zealand, visiting my cousin in Sidmouth, and we don't have anything similar there. It was also wonderful to see how many people turned out to watch it, there were crowds all the way from the Balfour to the town centre."
Aerfen Mills of Sidmouth, who was watching with her family, said: "It was a lovely event for both adults and children, and wonderful to see the community coming together and enjoying life. We really appreciate all the hard work that must go on behind the scenes."
With this year's event over, the carnival commitee are keen to get extra members and helpers for next year's procession. Anyone interested should contact Sidmouthcarnival@outlook.com.
The committee also has a JustGiving page for anyone who would like to support the carnival with a donation - large or small.
